Car Insurance

Confidence on the road starts with the right protection

Your vehicle is more than just transport — it is an important part of everyday life, whether for commuting, family use, travel, or business operations. The right car insurance can help protect you financially against unexpected events such as accidents, theft, storm damage, fire, and liability claims.

At Centregate Financial, we help clients compare and arrange motor insurance solutions tailored to their needs, vehicle type, usage and budget — so you can drive with greater peace of mind.

Types of Car Insurance

Comprehensive Car Insurance

The highest level of cover for broad protection

Comprehensive Car Insurance generally provides cover for loss or damage to your vehicle caused by insured events, while also covering damage your vehicle may cause to other people’s property.

Depending on the insurer and policy selected, cover may include:

✅ Damage to your vehicle from accidents or collisions
✅ Theft or attempted theft
✅ Fire damage
✅ Storm, hail and weather-related events
✅ Vandalism or malicious damage
✅ Accidental damage to another person’s vehicle or property
✅ Towing costs following an insured event
✅ Emergency accommodation or travel assistance (where available)
✅ Hire car benefits after theft or eligible no-fault accidents (policy dependent)
✅ New vehicle replacement in certain circumstances (subject to insurer terms)

Comprehensive cover is often suitable for drivers who want broader protection and greater peace of mind.

Third Party Property, Fire & Theft Insurance

Essential liability cover with added protection

This type of cover generally includes:

✅ Damage your vehicle causes to another person’s vehicle or property
✅ Loss or damage to your vehicle caused by fire
✅ Loss of your vehicle caused by theft or attempted theft
✅ Limited additional benefits depending on policy features

This option can provide a balance between affordability and meaningful protection.

Third Party Property Only Insurance

Basic protection for legal liability

Third Party Property Insurance generally covers:

✅ Damage your vehicle causes to another person’s car
✅ Damage your vehicle causes to another person’s property
✅ Legal liability arising from accidental property damage caused by your vehicle

This is a lower-cost option for drivers primarily seeking protection against liability claims.

Please note: this cover typically does not insure damage to your own vehicle.

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance

Mandatory injury liability cover

Compulsory Third Party Insurance (CTP) is required for registered vehicles in Australia (known as a Green Slip in New South Wales).

CTP generally covers liability for compensation where people are injured or killed in a motor vehicle accident involving your vehicle, subject to the relevant state or territory scheme.

This may include compensation claims involving:

  • passengers in your vehicle
  • other drivers
  • pedestrians
  • cyclists
  • motorcyclists
  • members of the public injured in an accident

CTP does not usually cover damage to vehicles or property — separate motor insurance is generally required for that protection.

Features that may be available

Depending on the insurer and policy selected, optional features and benefits may include:

✅ Tailored levels of cover
✅ Choice of repairer options (where available)
✅ Lifetime guarantee on authorised repairs (insurer dependent)
✅ New-for-old vehicle replacement (subject to eligibility)
✅ 24/7 claims support
✅ Roadside assistance options
✅ Windscreen cover
✅ Towing and storage costs
✅ No-claim discount benefits
✅ Hire car following theft or eligible no-fault accidents
✅ Cover for accessories and modifications (subject to declaration)

Policy limits, exclusions, waiting periods and conditions apply.

Choosing the right motor insurance

The right policy depends on:

  • the value of your vehicle
  • whether the vehicle is financed or owned outright
  • personal or business use
  • frequency of driving
  • driver age and experience
  • claims history
  • where the vehicle is garaged
  • accessories or modifications
  • your budget and preferred excess level

At Centregate Financial, we help you understand your options and arrange cover suited to your circumstances.
